What is a satellite TV receiver?
Even though you may not know it, satellite TV is a complicated process. It’s more than recording and sending it to you. There are actual orbiting the earth that send you radio, and satellite TV. There are a couple of basic components we must go over before you can understand how this works. The first thing involved in this line of production is the programming station. This gets all the code and videos set up to send to the broadcasting station. The broadcasting station then sends those files to the satellite that is orbiting the earth up in space. The satellite that orbits the earth is capable of sending and receiving information. This is what makes it possible for you to view something that may be going on in a different country. From this satellite, the information is sent to your or your buildings satellite dish. This satellite dish must be strategically placed in order for you to receive the best quality of video from your broadcasting service. Bad weather may hinder your video which is one of the downsides of having a satellite dish. From this satellite dish the information is transmitted to the satellite TV receiver. What are the functions of a satellite TV receiver: There are many functions of a satellite TV receiver, but I will explain the main one. When a transmission from a satellite is received by a satellite dish it needs to be translated into a language that the TV can understand and project onto the screen. This is where the satellite TV receiver comes into place. This contraption allows the signal to be directly entered into the TV and projected. Other functions to a satellite TV receiver: A receiver can also send the signal to other rooms in the building. Some receivers all have the same frequency which causes all of the receivers to show the image that is playing on the main receiver, the one that receives the signal first. If the receivers have a different frequency or can change frequencies than they can view other images while someone in the next room watches their favorite show simultaneously. In the near future all of this equipment will not be necessary to view movies broadcasted over the air or TV shows. But for now that’s what we have to work with, and if it’s going to be around its best you learn it so you know what you need and don’t need.
